Book Friends
Itβs stressful times for everyone. Coronavirus hasnβt hit SoCal hard, yet. YET. But I didnβt really sleep last night because I canβt stop thinking about what may come. I know Iβm not the only one in that boat, especially with many (in the U.S.) on shelter in place orders.
Weβre still taking walks. And I feel very lucky and blessed that the girlsβ school started distance learning yesterday. I canβt emphasize enough what a difference that made in the spirit of our houseβyes, it changed in just one day because it created a sense of normalcy in our world that is changing so much day to day.
I read a great article by an American couple in quarantine in China. Theyβre seven weeks ahead of us in quarantine time and this article explains how they stayed sane.
Weβve been organizing the house. I wish I could say that I have tons of free time, but I donβt. Iβm a doctor and Iβm still going in to work though this week has been slow.
I canβt focus to write. Mini Me canβt either.
My plan for escape? Books, of course.
Iβm finding solace in some old friends.
What I mean is that when I really canβt focus on whatβs going on, I pull out some of my favorite re-reads.
To All the Boys Iβve Loved Before x 3
These are the books I currently have in my TBRR pile. To Be Re-Read.
(Yes, Iβm on a first name basis with these old friends, hence why I didnβt include the authors. But you can click the link if you want more info.)
I have a pile of new TBR books, donβt get me wrong.
But sometimes our minds need a little famiiiarity and comfort. Sometimes our minds want to know whatβs coming.
Or discover what we missed the first time around.
Thatβs my plan for today. Or for the next hour until I wake up the girls for distance learning. Then my plan is to focus on what they need. Join in on PE. Do some yoga. And try not to read the news before bedtime so I can sleep tonight!
What are some of your favorite re-reads?
Iβm over due for a read-along and leaning toward Rainbow Rowellβs Fangirl since Iβm about to re-start it and Mini Me has been reading it this week. My other thought is to do a read-along (virtual book club) to discuss the two books that spawned from Fangirl, Carry On and Wayward Son. Especially because I STILL havenβt read Wayward Son yet.
