Who I follow on Instagram
There are a lot of talks out there about who you should or shouldn’t follow on Instagram, especially if what you’re scrolling through doesn’t make you feel good about yourself. I like the message that people are sharing—that it’s okay to unfollow, it’s okay to mute someone, it’s okay to take a social media break (completely or not). For me, personally, I’ve never worried about it because my Instagram is a positive place for me.
Who I follow on IG:
Writers
Amazing illustrators
Dancers and choreographers
A few famous people but only if they make me laugh or smile
Other bookstgrammars and bookworms
Fashion designers
Family and friends
My patients if they follow me (otherwise I like to give space for privacy)
Creative crafters
Food artists
Positive toddler encouragement sites esp for those who offer support for our more ‘challenging’ eaters
Some photographers and travelers
A few families who have lost a child and a few who have adopted their kids
Basically my IG is (mostly) full of positivity.
Some of my favorites as a pediatrician:
Kids.eat.in.color Great food phrases and ideas for our ‘picky’ and not-so-picky eaters.
Annabelkarmel Great food ideas and recipes for toddlers on up.
Positivelypresent Lovely images promoting positive ways of thinking.
Not ok app A FREE mental health app designed to help us figure out when we are not ok.
A million craft or STEM accounts (Art Bar Blog, Art Camp LA , The Dad Lab, etc)
Robyne’s Nest and Casa Youth Shelter because of their positive impact locally for high school kids.
And honestly all of my patients or previous patients because I love watching these kids grow up and I feel honored to have been a tiny part of their childhood.
Oh, and in honor of Women in History month, I have to mention Photography of Liberty, which features cosplays of Women in History by a very adorable infant-now-toddler. Her mom is a photographer and always adds some great information about various influential women in history.
