Sauteed Sweet Apple-Pear App

Sauteed Sweet Apple-Pear App

1 Fuji apple

1 Golden Pear

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Dash of nutmeg

Dash of ginger

1/2 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp lemon zest

App:  Chop the apple and pear into small cubes and turn the stove on low. Melt a square of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan and add the fruit when golden brown. Sprinkle in the spices and pour on the lemon juice. Cook until soft, only a few minutes. Grate the lemon zest with a planer and mix it in before serving.

Editor's note:  Mini Me made this appetizer for a Hanukkah celebration last week, as pictured above.  It was a big hit with Honey Lemon's little sis (and the rest of us). (Honey Lemon is Little Lion's bestie.) HL's mom made latkes, HL's dad made applesauce (with HL), beef tongue with two sauces, Japanese curry and quail eggs with bacon.  Mr. Bookworm made venison meatballs, a chard-kale saag paneer, and smoked turkey curry.  I love that most of this gourmet meal was made by the men because they're awesome like that.  To Honey Lemon and family: thank you for letting us celebrate with you!

When Life Gives You Lemons is a cooking blog by Mini-Me Bookworm that features recipes that use various lemon-themed ingredients. Because lemons make food better.
