Oliver Jeffers is a favorite writer of mine. Writer-illustrator, I should say. I guess weāre starting the re-launch of this blog with faves. You likely recognize his artwork/picture books because you likely have at least one of his books on your shelf. Heās the creator of Lost and Found, This Moose Belongs to Me, The Day the Crayons Quit, The Great Paper Caper, The Hueys, Stuck and so much more.
Iāll admit that Iām working on a middle grade ghost story. A rock and roll ghost, in fact. And while I usually donāt like to read things in the similar themes as what Iām working on, when I spotted Thereās a Ghost in this House, I admit that I couldnāt resist buying it. And Iām so glad that I did.
Jeffers created a ghost story within the walls of actual photographs of older houses, complete with the main character wandering the empty, eerie halls and rooms while looking for ghostly friends. The thing is, she canāt see them. But we CAN!
Thatās right! Jeffers painted ghosts on vellum papers that are in between the story pages. It makes for a thrilling double story that involves the reader in a fun and friendly way.

* This poll is in honor of my review of Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeedās YA novel of the same name, posting later this week. I donāt think Iāll stick with it for the whole yearā¦.because why would I recommend a book that I donāt think you should read? :D
