Pre-ordering Books
Do you pre-order books so you’ll have them on their release day?
Apparently it’s a great thing for an author (and illustrator if we’re talking picture books) if we pre-order their books. It shows their publishing company that there’s a lot of interest in the books and may even get a favorite author on the bestseller list. Let’s face it, for us bookworms and book dragons, there are a lot of books that we’re going to buy anyway.
Like we tend to pre-order the next novel in the Wings of Fire series. And books from favorite authors, like the sequels to Ben Hatke’s graphic novels so we could read them right away. And our copy of Grace Lin’s prequel for Mulan, Before the Sword, is arriving on Tuesday (Feb 11). Or it better be arriving on time.
And then there are some books that you pre-order even if you have 7-8 copies of it already.
Like this version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone:
It’s an illustrated version of the first book in the Harry Potter series. Yes, we already own the amazing illustrated version by Jim Kay. And, yes, we have the original and re-released Scholastic versions, plus Hufflepuff and Slytherin versions, plus the series in hardcover, and one special edition from the UK. We still haven’t purchased the Brian ___ versions yet, but will one day when we have cleaned up our house.
But THIS version? This version promises to be epic. It’s designed by the House of MinaLima AKA the duo behind the graphic art in the films!
Plus there’s a Hogwarts letter to pull out and read! We are IN, all IN for this when it comes out in October 2020.
Which books do you tend to pre-order?
[Side note/post script: I notice a lot of people who blog (and do book reviews) tend to use GIFs and I find that entertaining, but I’m a writer not a GIFer. :D I wonder if some people prefer certain styles of blogging depending on how old they are?]
