As I Dream of You

It’s Read a Book Day (posted on IG on Sept 6), so this is what I’m currently reading: AS I DREAM OF YOU by Jennifer Lee and illustrated by LeUyen Pham. It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking modern day version of Eurydice and Orpheus in graphic novel form. And, yes, every spread has a bit of a dreamlike quality to it, not just because of the title, but because isn’t that what it feels like when you’re falling in love?

My copy is from the library, but we also have this book in our store. And just as a reminder, September is open a library card month too. 😃

I’m still in the middle of reading this book, but I’m absolutely waiting for my heart to get broken. 💔

We’ve been big fans of LeUyen Pham from her picture books plus her collaborations with Shannon Hale. I love seeing her range from picture books to middle grade graphic novels, and now to this gorgeously illustrated young adult graphic novel. We also met Pham years ago, and she graciously drew a picture of our then six year old when she was signing our book.

I took this picture at Cottage Industries where we are having a pop-up event later this month. If you haven’t been there yet, you need to visit this thoughtfully-designed and community-oriented space, preferably on September 27, when we’ll be there. 😃
