Maud and the Very Eventful Week by Lisa Anchin
I’ve followed Lisa Anchin and dear, sweet Maud on Instagram for many years. When she announced that Maud was going to have her very own chapter book, I was over the moon!
So I’m not surprised that MAUD AND THE VERY EVENTFUL WEEK was the first book we sold in person at our first Bookdragon pop-up a few weeks ago. I’m also not surprised that it was an educator who purchased it for her classroom as she thoughtfully considered what her students might like.
MAUD AND THE VERY EVENTFUL WEEK follows Maud, a little vampire girl, in episodic short chapters, reminiscent of the charm in the Frog and Toad series. That’s an accolade that I take seriously.
Every day we follow Maud on a different adventure, first with a spooky teapot, then with a spider and juice stand, and even her discovering a large tooth fossil! Throughout it all, Maud in this chapter book maintains the joy and quirkiness in Maud that Anchin presented online.
Though I’m posting this on Goth Day at The Beach Flea and we have Maud in with our Spooky books/Summerween section, MAUD AND THE VERY EVENTFUL WEEK is an early chapter book that kids and their adults will enjoy year round.
