The Bookworm family has been researching Meet-Cutes in fiction to inspire our own writing.

The Scholastic Book Club flyer was one of my first loves.
My Lola (my grandma on my momโs side) and I were close. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren. Still, even after sheโs been gone for 18 years, I can picture her smile (with bright red lipstick!) and hear her laughter and it makes me smile too.
Books are still being banned in the U.S. in 2018. Letโs take a look at some of the reasons why.
As I wrote the other day, my girls are loving Paris and so am I. We love the individual little boutiques and we're certainly loving all the independent book shops. We love the cobblestone roads, the delicious summer cherries, the little surprises in architecture that we find in every corner.
If I could read French, I would have bought books from every little cute bookstore we found in the Latin Quarter.
The quick bullet list run-down of why Shannon Hale is my HERO.
A new series featuring our favorite authors.
Our plans to avoid the 'summer slide' are to do a little math each week and to do a little reading and writing each week. To be honest, it's only the math that Mr. Bookworm and I have to enforce. The reading and writing are automatic.
Come see my tips on making summer reading fun for your little one!
Earlier this week I was putting together a last minute query. Thatโs NEVER good idea.
This is a work in progress. I was inspired to write a picture book based on these famous Star Wars lines. But it ended up being an ode to my bookworm girls. So, in honor of Mother's Day, here it is. I love you, Mini Me and Little Lion. Seven and a half plump-tillion pieces.
Dr. Bookworm recounts the Bookworm family adventures at the 2018 L.A. Times Festival of Books. Plus, thereโs Leslie Odom, Jr. involved. :D
There was some point in my life when I couldn't stand musicals, didn't understand why the actors would burst out into song, seemingly out of nowhere.
Much like my eventual love of Shakespeare though I had been skeptical (and I saw ALL the RSC Shakespeare production shows the summer of 1994), I grew back to love musical theater.
What's your go-to book? When I have nothing to read and no access to the internet (and fan fiction), there are a handful of books that I can always count on. Where She Went by Gayle Forman is one of them.
My mom has slowly been giving me things from my childhood room over the years. I have no idea what to do with my spelling and academic trophies, but I did know that when she handed over my letterman jacket from varsity cheer, I was reluctant to donate it.
Then I had an immediate epiphany. Though I went to an all-girls school, I cheered for the all-boys school counterpart....and their colors were HUFFLEPUFF HOUSE COLORS. Well, I happen to know a very loyal Hufflepuff in my house, Little Lion!
Can I tell you the little things that I love about being a mom? Besides the fact that my girls are perfect (but not) and that they bring so much joy (overall) and they own every single piece of my heart.
I like helping with Valentine's Day cards. And Halloween treat bags. And when they were younger (or far more many times with Mini Me than Little Lion), with birthday treat bags for parties. It's fun. And it's a privilege. #ILoveBeingAMom
I'm currently watching Catching Fire for the first time. Yes, even though I've owned the DVD since it was released (years ago), I've never watched it. Or Mockingjay 1 or 2. Why? Because I knew it would be tough to watch.
But since I did a recent re-read of the series--and may or may not be delving into the Gadge** ship--I've been trying to get myself to watch Catching Fire.
Last year I wrote about my Lola's New Year's Day tradition--she would raffle off prizes or money to all her grandchildren. It was always a fun gathering, an extra day of bonding. I've always wanted to carry on her tradition and last year I figured out a way to do it remotely....with books, of course.
